A man has been charged with drink driving after he collided with a gas main which forced nearby residents to evacuate their homes.
The incident occurred on Sunday at 1.06am, 20th October.
Mark Elliman, of Valencia Way, will appear in court on November 5th following the crash on King Arthurs Way.
The 35-year-old is accused of driving into a main and a lamppost in a Volkswagen Van.
Mr Elliman has been released on bail.
‘Southern Gas Network’ worked eagerly through the night in order to make the scene safe.
Residents were warned not to light cigarettes or use light switches if they smelled gas, and also to open windows and leave properties immediately.
