17.21 – Italy confirms that 168 people have died there in one day.

14.12 – The Castle Practice in Ludgershall has closed for 24 hours for a deep clean after a patient attended the surgery showing signs of COVID-19 (coronavirus). The case is as yet unconfirmed, the surgery has closed for deep cleaning as a precaution and will reopen tomorrow morning.

14.00 – Public Health England announces that there are now 319 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the UK, an increase of 46 cases in 24 hours. Nearly 25,000 people have so far been tested for the virus.

13.48 – NHS England have confirmed a sixth person has died after testing positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus). The man who was in his early 80’s was being cared for at Watford General Hospital, the hospital report that he had underlying health conditions.

16.58 – Prime Minister, Boris Johnson says that containing COVID-19 is “extremely unlikely to work on its own.” He indicates Britain is preparing to move to the next phase (delay) in its response to the coronavirus outbreak.

15.38 – Health secretary, Matt Hancock announces a fourth person has died after contracting COVID-19 (coronavirus). The patient, who was being treated at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital, was in their seventies and had underlying health conditions. It appears the virus was acquired in the UK and full contact tracing has begun.

15.29 – Saturday’s Six Nations rugby match between Ireland and France has been postponed.

15.00 – Balksbury School write to parents explaining that the conflicting information given to different schools on how to handle the situation over a confirmed case of COVID-19 (coronavirus) mixing with families at Andover Leisure Centre, was ‘unacceptable’.

14.34 – Public Health England confirm 6 of the new 46 cases are in Hampshire.

12.49 – The Lights Theatre announce that whilst they are monitoring government advice, their schedule will continue as planned. They confirm that The Long Overdue Theatre School performance for tonight has however been cancelled.

12.10 – Andover Leisure Centre announces that it will reopen at 12.30 pm today (Monday 9th March 2020) after completing a deep clean.

12.04 – Reports received that students from Queen Mary’s College in Basingstoke have been sent home after showing flu-like symptoms.

12.00 – Andover BID Manager Steve Godwin says Andover Town Centre is open as usual, and that no one should be panic buying, but if you do decide to panic buy, to use one of the town centre shops to do it in.

12.00 – Farleigh School and Roslyn Swimming School CANCEL all swimming lessons due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the Andover area. Farleigh School say this is a precaution to safeguard the school community. Roslyn Swimming School say that this will be for an indefinite period of time.

11.36 – Tidworth Town Council request that anyone visiting them ensure that they follow the measures set out on the NHS website surrounding hygiene and do not visit if they are returning visitors from a list of countries.

11.28 – A staff member at Southampton University Hospital has tested positive for COVID-18 (coronavirus). The staff member is self-isolating as are any patients and staff that came into contact with them.

11.17 – The Long Overdue theatre school show, tonight at the lights, is to be postponed until further notice due to the CoronaVirus in Andover.

Having spoken to the official helpline and The Lights, the safest option is to not run the show tonight. While this is devastating for the children, and us, a number of children have been told to go into self isolation and therefore the show wouldn’t be the amazing show we had worked so hard on.

We will come back with more info shortly. But wanted to let you know as soon as possible and know you will all support this decision which is out of our hands.

10.40 – Andover Schools give out conflicting advice regarding self-isolation following the news of a confirmed case of COVID-19 visiting Andover Leisure Centre at the weekend.

10.02 – Tillydown Butchers has asked customers to use the hand sanitiser stations which they have placed at the gatehouse and the shop.

09.00 – Talking Heads Hairdressers on Weyhill Road asks customers if they have symptoms of flu, have been anywhere or have been in contact with someone who is displaying signs of Coronavirus, to contact them before attending the salon.

08.00 – Choices Hire Services ask that customers use the hand sanitiser they have provided before entering their premises, they ask that anyone suffering from any symptoms of respiratory infection refrain from visiting their premises.

07.18 – Figures released last night (Sunday 8th March 2020) indicate that there are eight cases of confirmed COVID-19 in the Hampshire area.

22.38 – Tutti Frutti asks customers if they have symptoms of flu, have been anywhere or have been in contact with someone who is displaying signs of Coronavirus, to contact them before attending the salon.

22.36 – Burnley’s Bridal request that customers do not request an appointment if they have the slightest signs or symptoms of flu or have been anywhere or had contact with someone who is presenting with symptoms.

22.00 – The headteacher from an Andover school has sent out an email to parents requesting that they keep their children home from school tomorrow (Monday 9th March 2020) if they had visited the Andover Leisure Centre yesterday (Saturday 7th Match). Conflicting advice from 111 and Public Health England has been given to headteachers, staff and parents about what to do if families were at Andover Leisure Centre at the same time as the confirmed case of coronavirus yesterday (Saturday 7th March 2020).

21.40 – The Salon asks customers if they have symptoms of flu, have been anywhere or have been in contact with someone who is displaying signs of Coronavirus, to contact them before attending the salon.

21.30 – A man in his 60’s with ‘significant’ underlying health problems has become the third person to die in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus, the man was being treated at North Manchester Hospital after contracting the virus in Italy.

20.15 – Members of the public who were at Andover Leisure Centre at the same time as the confirmed case of Coronavirus have been told to self-isolate by 111.

20.11 – Bourne Valley Beauty asks clients to let them know prior to attending any appointments if they have any symptoms or have been to any known affected areas.

19.51 – Salon 73 asks customers if they have symptoms of flu, have been anywhere or have been in contact with someone who is displaying signs of Coronavirus, to contact the salon before attending the salon.

19.17 – Endeavour School advises parents that if their child has attended Andover Leisure Centre this weekend, feels unwell and is displaying any symptoms, not to come into school and phone 111 for advice.

19.01 – Andover Gymnastics Club ask that members who have any flu like symptoms to refrain from training.

18.03 – Finkley Down Farm Nursery advise parents that if their child attended Andover Leisure Centre this weekend and are displaying any of the symptoms of coronavirus, they must stay away from the nursery and contact 111 for advice.

17.52 – Longparish little School advise parents that if their children have been to Andover Leisure Centre this weekend, to stay home and phone 111 for advice.

16.30 – Harrow Way School tell parents that if they or students have attended Andover Leisure Centre this weekend and have any of the identified symptoms to stay off school and contact 111.

16.30 – Winton Community Academy advise parents that if their child attended Andover Leisure Centre this weekend and are displaying any of the symptoms of coronavirus, they must stay off school and contact 111 for advice.

14.55 Andover CofE school advise parents that if their children have attended Andover Leisure Centre and have Coronavirus symptoms, not to come into school and to phone 111 for advice.

14.32 – Box Andover announce that due to the confirmed COVID-19 case at Andover Leisure Centre, that they will no longer be allowing members to use community boxing gloves.

14.22 – Andover Leisure Centre announces that a man who visited the centre has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and they are set to close for at least 24 hours for a deep cleanse.

Peter Symonds College in Wyke, Winchester announce to parents and students that a student had been diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus. The student in question and anyone who has been in contact with him is told to self-isolate.

14.12 – Public Health England release today’s confirmed cases number as 273, an increase from 209 yesterday.
