Scrawl, the fun horror feature film made and produced by Andover College students, has been selected for the Fright Night Film Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, 16th – 18th October 2015.
Fright Night is the largest genre film festival in all mid America focusing on horror, science fiction, fantasy, action, and cult from around the world including new films from Asia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Europe and North America.
Andover College Lecturer in Media and Filmmaking Peter Hearn explains the value of Scrawl featuring at this international festival: “To be able to share the work at festivals like this one, with potential producers, distributors and fans of the genre in attendance, just opens up many different avenues for the film to travel down. I think I speak on behalf of the students involved when I say we are excited for what might happen next with Scrawl.”
Peter wrote and directed Scrawl, which was filmed, produced and edited by students. It featured student actors who performed alongside seasoned professionals. The film charts the story of two friends living in a rundown seaside town. Central to the story is the comic book they create to escape their reality, gain some notoriety and more importantly – pick up girls. All is going well until events in the comic book start to invade their reality and situations in the book come to life.
The purpose of Peter’s ambitious project was to give all the students involved experience of working on location, on a professionally produced, directed and acted film. They all earned professional film credits giving them the advantage as they enter the film or television industry.
