A press release about the Andover Christmas Lights Switch On from Test Valley Borough Council has caused tension at Andover Town Council.
The TVBC press release stated, “This year the loss of Andover Town Council as one of the key sponsors of the Switch On festivities has led to Test Valley Borough Council having to look at new ways to bridge the funding gap to ensure that the biggest show in the Andover calendar goes on.”
A source has told Andover & Villages that Chairman of Andover Town Council, Cllr Geoff McBride was furious at the implication that Andover Town Council were not financially supporting Andover’s Christmas Lights.
The source said, “Andover Town Council in fact pay for the tree and the Christmas lights, which costs in excess of £21,000, this is purely paid for by Andover Town Council.”
