Abbotts Ann Village Shop Awarded Funds for Refurbishment

Abbotts Ann Village Shop Association has been awarded a generous grant of £6,850 from Test Valley Borough Council’s Community Asset Fund to help fund its refurbishment.

The shop has been fitted with new catering equipment and kitchen facilities. The money has also helped pay for a modern computer system which can administer transactions, monitor stock levels and collect customer information. Hampshire County Council and Abbotts Ann Parish Council also contributed funding towards the project.

Maureen Flood, borough councillor for Anna ward and Abbotts Ann Village Shop postmaster, said: “We are delighted to accept these generous funds to allow us to refurbish the shop. Although we are a very traditional shop, it is vital that we maintain a modern customer experience to ensure we continue to provide the valued amenity that our customers enjoy and require.”

Councillor Graham Stallard added: “The Test Valley Community Asset Fund is an excellent initiative that helps support the development of local communities. On behalf of Test Valley Borough Council we are pleased to be able to support the Abbotts Ann Village Shop in this way so that the business can continue to grow from strength to strength. The fund is an excellent way to help support initiatives that are identified as of greatest importance to the local community.”

The Test Valley Borough Council Community Asset Fund gives clubs, charities and voluntary associations the opportunity to apply for grants of up to 50 per cent of the cost of a project, up to a maximum of £25,000.
