A34 Sutton Scotney, Hampshire: drainage surveys

Work to carry out surveys of the drainage system at the Sutton Scotney service area takes place this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 25 November.

A34 Whitchurch, Hampshire: bridge repairs

Work to replace a joint in the bridge which carries the A34 over the River Test continues this week. The A34 southbound from the B4640 Tot Hill junction to the A303 Bullington Cross junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 November for four nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the A339 towards Basingstoke then the A303.

A34 Oxfordshire: junction improvements

Work to refresh the road markings and install LED road studs at the West Ilsley junction, Chilton junction, Milton Interchange, Hinksey Hill junction and the Botley Interchange, continues this week. The A34 northbound from the M4 Chieveley junction to the A4130 Milton Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 28 November. A signed diversion will be in place via the A4, A338, A417 and A4130.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: drainage

Work to ensure safety by maintaining the drainage system at the A420 Botley Interchange continues this week. The A34 southbound entry slip road at the Botley Interchange and lane one of the A34 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 19 December (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via the Peartree Interchange and return.

A404 High Wycombe to Marlow, Buckinghamshire: resurfacing

Work to resurface sections of the A404 in both directions between Marlow and High Wycombe continues this week. The A404 northbound will be closed from the Marlow junction to the M40 Handy Cross roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 26 November for three nights. A signed diversion will be in place via Wycombe Road.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintaining the drainage system at junction 6 continues this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads and the southern side of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from until Thursday 28 November. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M3 junctions 11 to 10 Winchester, Hampshire: bridge joint

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking maintenance to the bridge which carries the M3 over the railway line continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the M3 in both directions from 9pm on Friday 29 November through to 6am on Monday 2 December.

In addition, the M3 northbound between junctions 12 and 9, and the M3 southbound between junctions 9 and 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 29 November to Sunday 1 December. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

M4 junctions 3 at Hayes to 12 at Theale, Berkshire: upgrade to smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between junction 3 at Hayes and 12 at Theale continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4. Carriageway and slip road closures are planned as follows, all fully closed overnight (traffic management will usually be rolled out from 9pm and taken off by 6am).

There is one full weekend closure planned this year, taking place at the end of this week:

  • The M4 between junctions 6 and 8/9 will be fully closed in both directions from 8pm on Friday 29 November to 6am on Monday 2 December. Traffic will be diverted to the A308M, A308, A332 and the A355. Strategic diversions will also be in place in the wider region using the M25, M3 and M40.

There are also overnight closures as follows:

  • The M4 westbound between junctions 6 (Slough-Windsor) and 8/9 (Maidenhead) will be closed overnight on Tuesday 26 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A355, A332, A308 and A308M.
  • The M4 eastbound between junctions 8/9 (Maidenhead) and 6 (Slough-Windsor) will be closed overnight on Wednesday 27 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A308M, A308, A332 and A355.
  • The M4 westbound between junctions 11 (Reading) and 12 (Theale) will be closed overnight on Thursday 28 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A33 and A4.

There are also slip road closures booked as follows:

  • Junction 7 – the westbound entry and exit slips will be closed overnight on Monday 25, Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 November.
  • Junction 8/9 – the eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight on Monday 25, Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 November.
  • Junction 11 – the eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight on Monday 25 November.
  • Junction 12 – the eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight on Thursday 28 November.

M4 junction 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: surveys

Work to survey the network at junction 14 finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on the M4 westbound overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 26 November.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 in both directions beneath the bridge.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire: smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: slip road widening

Work to improve safety by widening the southbound slip road at the University Interchange continues this week.  Narrow lanes are in place on the A3 northbound and University exit slip road 24 hours a day until March.

A27 Bedhampton, Hampshire: traffic lights

Work to maintain traffic flows by maintaining the traffic lights at the Bedhampton/Harts Farm Way junction continues this week. The A27 eastbound entry slip road, the A27 westbound exit slip road and the link from the A3(M) junction 5 roundabout to the A27 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 3 December (Monday to Friday only). Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions and Havant.

A31 Minstead, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by repairing a section of the A31 westbound near Minstead finishes this week. The A31 westbound will be closed from junction 2 of the M27 to Stoney Cross overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 26 November. A signed diversion will be in place from junction 2 of the M27 to Salisbury via A36, and then south on A338 to re-join A31 at Ringwood Interchange.

A31 St Leonards, Dorset: street lighting

Work to improve journeys by updating the street lighting at the Woolsbridge roundabout continues this week. The A31 eastbound from the Boundary Lane roundabout to the A338 Ashley Heath roundabout, with a lane two closure on the A31 westbound, will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Monday 2 December (Monday to Friday only).

A signed diversion will be in place via the A347, the B3073 and the A338 to re-join the A31 at the Ashley Heath roundabout.  Traffic wanting to join the A31 at Woolsbridge Roundabout will be diverted north on Woolsbridge Road, then east on Horton Road to Ashley Heath Roundabout.
