Full list of road closures Hampshire 7/1/19

The following list of roadworks and disruptions for A34, A303, M4, A404, M27 and M27 is corrected as of Monday, 7th of October, but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or other circumstances. All improvements are carried out with the aim to stop disruptions.

A34 Whitchurch, Hampshire: bridge joint

Work to replace the joint in the bridge which carries the A34 over the River Test continues this week. The A34 northbound carriageway from the A303 (Bullington) to Tot Hill will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Monday 7 October. A signed diversion will be in place via the A303, Basingstoke and the A339 towards Newbury.

A34 Oxfordshire: junction improvements

Work to refresh the road markings and install LED road studs at the West Ilsley junction, Chilton junction, Milton Interchange, Hinksey Hill junction and the Botley Interchange, continues this week. The A34 northbound carriageway from the A423 Hinksey Hill junction to the A44 Peartree Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 8 October for three nights. A signed diversion will be in place via Oxford ring-road.

The A34 southbound carriageway from the A44 Peartree Interchange to the A423 Hinksey Hill junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 11 October for three consecutive nights. A signed diversion will be in place via Oxford ring-road.

M3 junction 12 Chandlers Ford to M27 Eastleigh, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the street lighting along the M3 southbound takes place this week. The M3 southbound carriageway will be closed from junction 12 to the M27 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 9 October for 3 nights. A signed diversion will be in place via Eastleigh.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 east and westbound carriageways beneath the bridge until winter.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire: smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: slip road widening and street lighting

Work to improve the street lighting and safety by widening the southbound slip road at the University Interchange continues this week.  Narrow lanes are in place on the A3 northbound carriageway and University exit slip road 24 hours a day until March 2020.

In addition, the southbound exit and entry slip roads at the University junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 11 October. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M4 junctions 3 at Hayes to 12 at Theale, Berkshire: upgrade to smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between Junctions 3 at Hayes to Junction 12 at Theale continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4.

Carriageway and slip road closures are planned as follows, all fully closed overnight (traffic management will usually be rolled out from 9pm and taken off by 6am).

The following closures planned during the next week:

The M4 westbound carriageway between junctions 3 (Hayes) and 4b (M25) will be closed overnight on Monday 7, Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the local network.

The M4 eastbound carriageway between junctions 4b (M25) and 3 (Hayes) will be closed overnight on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the local network.

There are also slip road closures booked as follows:

  • Junction 10 – the westbound entry slip from the A329M southbound (slip road 6) will be closed overnight on 7, 8 and 9 October.
  • Junction 10 – the eastbound exit slip to the A329M southbound (slip road 7) will be closed overnight on 11 October.
  • Junction 10 – the westbound exit slip to the A329M northbound (slip road 8) will be closed overnight on 7 and 9 October.
  • Junction 11 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 7 October.
