The A34 in Hampshire is closed northbound between the junctions for the A303 (Bullington Cross) and the A343 (Wash Common) due to a traffic collision.
Hampshire Police are on scene.
Traffic is being diverted via the ‘Solid Diamond’ diversion symbol.
From the junction with the A303, use the first exit and join the A303 westbound, continuing for approximately 5 miles towards Andover.
At the Picket Twenty Interchange, join the A3093, continuing over 2 further roundabouts to the junction with the A343 (Newbury Road) Interchange. Use the 3rd exit and join the A343, continuing for approximately 14 miles to the A34 Wash Common Interchange, rejoining the A34 northbound.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
Update at 17.33 – We’re currently dealing with a serious collision on the A34 northbound.
As a result of the two vehicle collision we have closed the northbound carriageway at Burghclere.
A woman has been taken to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The vehicles were a Volkswagen and a Ford.
A diversion has been put in place. The southbound carriageway is running as normal.
The carriageway is expected to be closed for some time.
