A303 roadworks

The following list of roadworks and disruptions for A34, A303, M4, A404, M27 and M27 is corrected as of Monday, 11th of November, but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or other circumstances. All improvements are carried out with the aim to stop disruptions.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: bridge repairs

Work to repair the surface of the A34 northbound carriageway over the Botley flyover continues this week.  The A34 northbound carriageway from the A423 Hinksey Hill junction to the A420 Botley Interchange overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 November for five nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the Oxford ring-road.

A303 Andover, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to repair a section of the A303 westbound carriageway at Andover takes place this week. The A303 westbound carriageway from the A3093 Picket Twenty junction to the A343 Salisbury Road junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 November for two nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the Andover ring-road.

A31 St Leonards, Dorset: street lighting

Work to improve journeys by updating the street lighting at the Woolsbridge roundabout continues this week. The A31 westbound carriageway from the A338 Ashley Heath roundabout to the Boundary Lane roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 14 November. A signed diversion will be in place via the A338 to the B3073, west to A347 New Road, then east on the A347 to Palmersford Roundabout. Traffic wanting to travel west on the A31 joining at Woolsbridge Roundabout will be diverted east on the A31 to Ashley Heath Roundabout where they will proceed on the above diversion.

In addition, the A31 eastbound carriageway from the Boundary Lane roundabout to the A338 Ashley Heath roundabout, with a lane 2 closure on the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 15 November for 12 nights (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via the A347, the B3073 and the A338 to re-join the A31 at the Ashley Heath roundabout.  Traffic wanting to join the A31 at Woolsbridge Roundabout will be diverted north on Woolsbridge Road, then east on Horton Road to Ashley Heath Roundabout.

M3 junctions 2 to 3 Lightwater, Surrey: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system between junctions 2 and 3 takes place this week. The clockwise southbound entry slip road at junction 2 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 13 November. A signed diversion will be in place via M3 junction 1 and return.

M3 junction 3 Lightwater, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to resurface a slip road at junction 3 takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 13 November for five nights (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: drainage and vegetation

Work to maintaining the drainage system at junction 6 starts this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads and the southern side of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 November for three nights. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

`In addition, work to cutback overgrown vegetation at the Black Dam roundabout takes place this week. The M3 slip roads at junction 6, the link to the Black Dam roundabout and all approach roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 14 November. Signed diversions will be in place via junction 7 and junction 5 and via Basingstoke.

M3 junctions 11 to 10 Winchester, Hampshire: bridge joint

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking maintenance to the bridge which carries the M3 over the railway line continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the M3 north and southbound carriageways and the northbound exit slip road at junction 11 will be closed from 9pm on Friday 15 November through to 6am on Monday 18 November.

In addition, the M3 northbound carriageway between junction 12 and junction 9, and the M3 southbound carriageway between junction 9 and junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 15 and Sunday 17 November.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

M4 junctions 3 at Hayes to 12 at Theale, Berkshire: upgrade to smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between Junctions 3 at Hayes to Junction 12 at Theale continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4. Carriageway and slip road closures are planned as follows, all fully closed overnight (traffic management will usually be rolled out from 9pm and taken off by 6am).

There are two full weekend closures planned over the next month including this coming weekend:

  • The M4 between junctions 6 and 8/9 will be closed in both directions from 8pm on Friday 15 November and reopening by 6am on Monday 18 November. Traffic will be diverted to the A308M, A308 and the A332. Strategic diversions will also be in place in the wider region using the M25, M3 and M40.
  • The M4 between junctions 6 and 8/9 will again be closed in both directions from 8pm on Friday 29 November and reopening by 6am on Monday 2 December. Traffic will be diverted to the A308M, A308 and the A332. Strategic diversions will also be in place in the wider region using the M25, M3 and M40.

The additional overnight closures are planned for the week commencing Monday 11 November:

  • The M4 eastbound carriageway between junctions 10 (Wokingham) and 8/9 (Maidenhead) will be closed overnight on Monday 11 and Wednesday 13 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A329M, A3290, A4 and A404M.
  • The M4 westbound carriageway between junctions 11 (Reading) and 12 (Theale) will be closed overnight on Tuesday 12 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A33 and A4.
  • The M4 westbound carriageway between junctions 10 (Wokingham) and 11 (Reading) will be closed overnight on Thursday 14 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A329M, A3290 and B3270.

There are also slip road closures booked as follows:

  • Junction 7 – the westbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 11 November.
  • Junction 7 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed on overnight 11 November.
  • Junction 8/9 – the eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight on 13 November.
  • Junction 12 – the eastbound entry and exit slips will be closed overnight on 11 November
  • Junction 12 – the eastbound entry and exit slips will be closed overnight on 13 November

M4 junction 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: surveys

Work to survey the network at junction 14 starts this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 November for four nights. A signed diversion will be in place via junction 15 and return.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 east and westbound carriageways beneath the bridge until winter.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire: smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021.

 

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: electrical maintenance

Work to relocate signal controllers in the cross-passages of the Hindhead Tunnel continues this week. A lane closure will be in place in the southbound tunnel overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 November for six nights (Monday to Friday only).

A3 Guildford, Surrey: slip road widening

Work to improve safety by widening the southbound slip road at the University Interchange continues this week.  Narrow lanes are in place on the A3 northbound carriageway and University exit slip road 24 hours a day until March 2020.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the street lighting along the A3 takes place this week. The A3 southbound carriageway from the Stoke Interchange to Compton overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 13 November for three nights. A signed diversion will be in place via Guildford, Farnham Road, the A31 and B3000.

A27 Bedhampton, Hampshire: traffic signals

Work to maintain traffic flows by maintaining the traffic signals at the Bedhampton/Harts Farm Way junction continues this week. The A27 eastbound entry slip road, the A27 westbound exit slip road and the link from the A3(M) junction 5 roundabout to the A27 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 3 December (Monday to Friday only). Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions and Havant.

A404 High Wycombe to Marlow, Buckinghamshire: resurfacing

Work to resurface sections of the A404 north and southbound carriageways between Marlow and High Wycombe continues this week. The A404 northbound carriageway will be closed from the Marlow junction to the M40 Handy Cross roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 27 November (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via Wycombe Road.
