Find the latest traffic disruptions for A303, A34 and M3 here

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 14 June but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

A34 Whitchurch, Hampshire: resurfacing and road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings and resurfacing finishes this week. The southbound carriageway is closed from the B4640 Tot Hill junction to the A303 (Bullington Cross) overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 20 June. A signed diversion will be in place via the B4640, A339 to Basingstoke, Ringway West, A30 and A303.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: surveys

Work to undertake surveys of the network to establish future maintenance requirements at the Botley Interchange takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road at the A420 Botley Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 17 June. A signed diversion will be in place via the adjacent junction.

A303 Andover Roadworks, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve road user’s journeys by renewing the road markings along the A303 continues this week.  The east and westbound exit and entry slip roads at the A343 Salisbury Road junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 20 June for two nights. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A303 Roadworks Andover, Hampshire to Shipton Bellinger, Wiltshire: road markings

Work to improve road user’s journeys by renewing the road markings along the A303 continues this week.  The A303 westbound carriageway will be closed from the A343 Hundred Acre/Monxton junction to the A338 Parkhouse Cross junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June. A signed diversion will be in place via Weyhill, Ludgershall and the A338.

A303 Shipton Bellinger, Wiltshire: road markings

Work to improve road user’s journeys by renewing the road markings along the A303 continues this week.  The eastbound exit and entry slip roads at the A338 junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 19 June. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A308(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: safety barrier

Work to ensure road user safety by replacing the safety barrier along the central reservation of the A308(M) continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place on both carriageways until Wednesday 3 July.

The A308(M) southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 3 July (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via the A308, A4 and A404(M).

A404 Bisham, Berkshire: bridleway improvements

Work to construct a bridleway alongside the A404 between Hurley Lane and Bradenham Lane, near Bisham, finishes this week. A lane closure on the northbound carriageway will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 19 June. Access to the A404 from Hurley Lane and access to Bradenhams Lane will be unavailable due to the lane closure.

M3 junction 4a Frimley, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system near the junction starts this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 4a will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 21 June for three nights (Monday to Friday only). Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M3 junctions 8 Dummer to 9 Winchester, Hampshire: safety barrier replacement

Work to ensure road user safety by replacing sections of the safety barrier along the M3 starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on the north and southbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 20 June for seven nights (Monday to Friday only).

M3 junction 9 Winchester, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage continues this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 18 June. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M3 junctions 10 to 11 Winchester, Hampshire: surveys

Work to undertake surveys of the drainage system along the M3 continues this week. The southbound entry slip road at junction 10 and the southbound exit slip road at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 19 June for three nights. Signed diversions will be in place via the next available junctions.

M3 junction 11 Winchester, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the M3 near junction 11 finishes this week. The southbound entry slip road at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 17 June. A signed diversion will be in place via the adjacent junction.

M4 junctions 7 at Slough West to 11 at Reading, Berkshire: upgrade to smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between Junctions 3 at Hayes to Junction 12 at Theale continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4.

M4 junctions 7 at Slough West to 12 at Theale, Berkshire: upgrade to smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between Junctions 3 at Hayes to Junction 12 at Theale continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4. Carriageway and slip road closures are planned as follows, all fully closed overnight between approximately 10pm and 5am (traffic management will usually be rolled out from 9pm and taken off by 6am).

Full closures booked for the week commencing Monday 17th June are as follows:

• The M4 westbound carriageway between junctions 8/9 (Maidenhead) and 10 (Wokingham) will be closed overnight on Monday 17th, Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th June. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the B3270, the A3290 and the A329M. A contingency booking is in place on Thursday 20th June.

There are also several slip road closures booked as follows:

• Junction 7 – the westbound exit slip will be closed overnight on 17th, 18th and 19th June.

• Junction 7 – the eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight on 20th and 21st June.

• Junction 8/9 – the eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight on 17th and 18th June.

In the event of poor weather conditions or other issues out of our control, planned work may be postponed at short notice. Contingency bookings are also in place, but these are only used if previously planned work is delayed. If work completes on an earlier day the motorway may not close, or if work completes ahead of schedule the motorway may reopen early. Signage will be in place on the network to notify of closures and diversions.

M4 junction 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: roundabout resurfacing

Work to improve journeys and road users safety by resurfacing the westbound slip roads and reconstructing the surface of the roundabout at junction 13 continues this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 17 June for three nights. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

In addition, the roundabout and approach roads from the A34 and M4 will be closed from 10pm on Friday 21 June through to 6am on Monday 24 June. Various signed diversions will be in place primarily using the A4 between junctions 12 and 14 via Newbury. A secondary diversion will be in place from Newbury and Hermitage for local traffic at Chieveley and for Newbury Showground.

M4 junctions 14 to 15 Woodlands St Mary, West Berkshire: bridge repairs

Work to ensure road user safety by undertaking concrete repairs a bridge which carries the M4 over a local road near Woodlands St Mary continues this week. The B4001 beneath the bridge will be fully closed to road users and pedestrians until mid-August. A signed diversion will be in place via Ermin Street and Ramsbury Road.

M27 junction 1 Cadnam, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings along the M27 continues this week. The westbound exit slip road at junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 18 June. A signed diversion will be in placed via Picket Post and return.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 east and westbound carriageways beneath the bridge until winter 2019.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire: smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021.

M271 junction 1 Lords Hill, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings around junction 1 takes place this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 18 June. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: slip road widening

Work to improve safety widening the southbound slip road at the Stoke Interchange continues this week.  Narrow lanes are in place on the southbound exit slip road at the Stoke Interchange 24 hours a day until August.

A3 Bramshott, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A3 near Bramshott takes place this week. The A3 southbound carriageway will be closed from the A31 Hogs Back to Longmoor overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 17 June for 4 nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the A31 and A325.

A27 Cosham, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the street lighting along the A27 takes place this week. The eastbound entry slip road at the Portsbridge roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 19 June. A signed diversion will be in place via Havant Road and A2030.

In addition, the eastbound carriageway will be closed from the A2030 Eastern Road junction to junction 12 of the M27 overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 20 June. A signed diversion will be in place via A2030, Havant Road and Southampton Road.

A27 Havant, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the street lighting along the A27 takes place this week. The A27 eastbound carriageway will be closed from the A3(M) junction to the A3023 Langstone junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 18 June. A signed diversion will be in place via Bedhampton Road and Park Road North.
