A303 roadworks

The following list of roadworks and disruptions for A34, A303, M4, A404, M27 and M27 is corrected as of Monday, 18th of November, but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or other circumstances. All improvements are carried out with the aim to stop disruptions.

A34/A303 Bullington Cross, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve safety by renewing the road markings at the Bullington Cross junction takes place this week. The A34 southbound exit slip road, the A30 westbound link, and the A303 westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 November for 2 nights. Signed diversions will be in place via adjacent junctions.

A303 Andover, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by repairing a section of the A303 near Andover takes place this week. The A303 eastbound carriageway from the A342 Hundred Acre junction to the A3093 Picket Twenty junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 November for 5 nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the Andover ring-road.

A34 Oxfordshire: junction improvements

Work to refresh the road markings and install LED road studs at the West Ilsley junction, Chilton junction, Milton Interchange, Hinksey Hill junction and the Botley Interchange, continues this week. The A34 southbound carriageway from the A44 Peartree Interchange to the A423 Hinksey Hill junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 November for 3 nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the A44, A40, A4142 and A423.

In addition, the A34 northbound carriageway from the A423 Hinksey Hill junction to the A44 Peartree Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 21 November. A signed diversion will be in place via the A423, A4142, A40 and A44.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: drainage

Work to ensure safety by maintaining the drainage system at the A420 Botley Interchange starts this week. The A34 southbound entry slip road at the Botley Interchange and lane 1 of the main southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 21 November for four weeks (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via the Peartree Interchange and return.

M3 junction 3 Lightwater, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to resurface a slip road at junction 3 finishes this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 19 November. A signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintaining the drainage system at junction 6 continues this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads and the southern side of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 November for 4 nights. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M3 junctions 11 to 10 Winchester, Hampshire: bridge joint

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking maintenance to the bridge which carries the M3 over the railway line continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the M3 north and southbound carriageways and the northbound exit slip road at junction 11 will be closed from 9pm on Friday 22 November through to 6am on Monday 25 November.

In addition, the M3 northbound carriageway between junction 12 and junction 9, and the M3 southbound carriageway between junction 9 and junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 22 and Sunday 24 November.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

M4 junctions 3 at Hayes to 12 at Theale, Berkshire: upgrade to smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between Junctions 3 at Hayes to Junction 12 at Theale continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4. Carriageway and slip road closures are planned as follows, all fully closed overnight (traffic management will usually be rolled out from 9pm and taken off by 6am).

There are two full weekend closures planned over the next month including this weekend:

  • The M4 between junctions 6 and 8/9 will be closed in both directions from 8pm on Friday 15 November and reopening by 6am on Monday 18 November. Traffic will be diverted to the A308M, A308 and the A332. Strategic diversions will also be in place in the wider region using the M25, M3 and M40.
  • The M4 between junctions 6 and 8/9 will again be closed in both directions from 8pm on Friday 29 November and reopening by 6am on Monday 2 December. Traffic will be diverted to the A308M, A308 and the A332. Strategic diversions will also be in place in the wider region using the M25, M3 and M40.

The additional overnight closures are planned for the week commencing Monday 18 November:

  • The M4 westbound carriageway between junctions 10 (Wokingham) and 11 (Reading) will be closed overnight on Monday 18 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A329M, A3290 and B3270.
  • The M4 westbound carriageway between junctions 8/9 (Maidenhead) and 10 (Wokingham) will be closed overnight on Tuesday 19 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A404M, A4, A3290 and A329M.
  • The M4 eastbound carriageway between junctions 10 (Wokingham) and 8/9 (Maidenhead) will be closed overnight on Wednesday 20 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A329M, A3290, A4 and A404M.

There are also slip road closures booked as follows:

  • Junction 5 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 21 November.
  • Junction 7 – the westbound entry and exit slips will be closed overnight on 20 November.
  • Junction 8/9 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 18 and 21 November.
  • Junction 10 – the eastbound exit slip to the A329M southbound (slip road 7) will be closed overnight on 18 November.
  • Junction 10 – the westbound entry slip from the A329M northbound (slip road 2) will be closed overnight on 19 and 20 November.
  • Junction 10 – the westbound entry slip from the A329M southbound (slip road 6) will be closed overnight on 21 November.
  • Junction 11 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 19 and 20 November.

M4 junction 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: surveys

Work to survey the network at junction 14 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the M4 westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 November for 4 nights.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 east and westbound carriageways beneath the bridge until winter.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire: smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021

M27 junction 5 Eastleigh, Hampshire: lighting

Work to ensure safety by maintaining the street lighting around junction 5 starts this week. The Stoneham Lane northbound approach to junction 5 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 18 November.

The M27 eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 19 November for 2 nights. The M27 westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 21 November for 2 nights.

The A335 link between junction 5 and Wide Lane will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 19 November for 4 nights.

Signed diversions will be in place.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: electrical maintenance

Work to relocate signal controllers in the cross-passages of the Hindhead Tunnel continues this week. A lane closure will be in place in the northbound tunnel overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 November for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only).

A3 Thursley, Surrey: drainage

Work to ensure safety by maintaining the drainage system along the A3 near Thursley takes place this week. Lane 1 of the A3 southbound carriageway, and the southbound access point for Lea Coach Road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 November for 5 nights.

During the closures, traffic wanting to join the A3 will be diverted to A286 / Haslemere Road, A283 and Portsmouth Road.  Traffic wanting to exit A3 will be diverted to Thursley Interchange where it will loop round and return to Milford Interchange from where it will proceed on A283, A286 / Haslemere Road, Lea Coach Road

A3 Guildford, Surrey: slip road widening

Work to improve safety by widening the southbound slip road at the University Interchange continues this week.  Narrow lanes are in place on the A3 northbound carriageway and University exit slip road 24 hours a day until March 2020.

A27 Bedhampton, Hampshire: traffic signals

Work to maintain traffic flows by maintaining the traffic signals at the Bedhampton/Harts Farm Way junction continues this week. The A27 eastbound entry slip road, the A27 westbound exit slip road and the link from the A3(M) junction 5 roundabout to the A27 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 3 December (Monday to Friday only). Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions and Havant.

A31 Minstead, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by repairing a section of the A31 westbound carriageway near Minstead takes place this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed from junction 2 of the M27 to Stoney Cross overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 21 November for four nights. A signed diversion will be in place from junction 2 of the M27 to Salisbury via A36, and then south on A338 to re-join A31 at Ringwood Interchange.

A31 St Leonards, Dorset: street lighting

Work to improve journeys by updating the street lighting at the Woolsbridge roundabout continues this week. The A31 eastbound carriageway from the Boundary Lane roundabout to the A338 Ashley Heath roundabout, with a lane 2 closure on the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 15 November for 12 nights (Monday to Friday only).

A signed diversion will be in place via the A347, the B3073 and the A338 to re-join the A31 at the Ashley Heath roundabout.  Traffic wanting to join the A31 at Woolsbridge Roundabout will be diverted north on Woolsbridge Road, then east on Horton Road to Ashley Heath Roundabout.

A404 High Wycombe to Marlow, Buckinghamshire: resurfacing

Work to resurface sections of the A404 north and southbound carriageways between Marlow and High Wycombe continues this week. The A404 northbound carriageway will be closed from the Marlow junction to the M40 Handy Cross roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 28 November (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via Wycombe Road.
