The following list of roadworks and disruptions for A34, A303, M4, A404, M4 and M27 is corrected as of Monday, 10th of September, but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or other circumstances. All improvements are carried out with the aim to stop disruptions.

A303 Longparish, Hampshire: safety barrier

Work to ensure road user safety by replacing sections of the safety barrier near Longparish continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place on the A303 eastbound carriageway until Thursday 12 September.

In addition, the A303 eastbound carriageway will be closed from the A3093 Picket Twenty junction to the Barton Stacey junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 12 September. A signed diversion will be in place via the A3093, A343 towards Newbury and the A34.
M4 junctions 8/9 at Maidenhead to 12 at Theale, Berkshire: upgrade to smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between Junctions 3 at Hayes to Junction 12 at Theale continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4. Carriageway and slip road closures are planned as follows, all fully closed overnight between approximately 10pm and 5am (traffic management will usually be rolled out from 9pm and taken off by 6am).

There are also three upcoming full weekend closures (8pm Friday until 6am Monday) of the M4 in both directions this Autumn:

  • 27-30 September 2019 – between junctions 5 to 6
  • 15-18 November 2019 – between junctions 6 to 8/9
  • 29 November-2 December 2019 junctions 6 to 8/9

Full closures booked for the week commencing Monday 9th September 2019 are as follows:

  • The M4 between junctions 10 (Wokingham) and 11 (Reading) will be closed overnight in both directions on Tuesday 10th September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A329M, A3290, and the B3270. This double closure is for the overnight installation of a super span gantry.
  • The M4 eastbound carriageway between junctions 10 (Wokingham) and 8/9 (Maidenhead) will be closed overnight on Thursday 12th September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place utilising the A329M, A3290, A4 and A404M.

There are also slip road closures booked as follows:

  • Junction 8/9 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 9th, 10th, and 11th September.
  • Junction 8/9 – the eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight on 9th, 10th, and 11th September.
  • Junction 8/9 – the westbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 11th and 12th September.
  • Junction 8/9 – the westbound exit slip will be closed overnight on 13th September.
  • Junction 10 – the westbound entry slip from the A329M northbound (slip road 2) will be closed overnight on12th September.
  • Junction 10 – the eastbound entry from A329M southbound (slip road 4) will be closed overnight on 13thSeptember.
  • Junction 11 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 9th September.
  • Junction 12 – the westbound exit slip will be closed overnight on 9th and 10th September.
  • Junction 12 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 11th and 12th September.

M4 junctions 14 to 15 Woodlands St Mary, West Berkshire: bridge repairs

Work to ensure road user safety by undertaking concrete repairs a bridge which carries the M4 over a local road near Woodlands St Mary continues this week. The B4001 beneath the bridge will be fully closed to road users and pedestrians until Friday 27 September. A signed diversion will be in place via Ermin Street and Ramsbury Road.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 east and westbound carriageways beneath the bridge until winter 2019.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire: smart motorway

Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: slip road widening

Work to improve safety widening the southbound slip road at the Stoke Interchange continues this week.  Narrow lanes are in place on the A3 northbound carriageway and University exit slip road 24 hours a day until March 2020.

A3 Ockham to Compton, Surrey: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 continues this week. The A3 northbound carriageway will be closed from Compton to Ockham overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 11 September. A signed diversion will be in place via the B3000 Puttenham Road, A31 Hogs Back, Farnham Road into Guildford, the A25 to Clandon, A247 to Send, and then Portsmouth Road to Ockham.

In addition, the A3 southbound carriageway from Ockham to Compton will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 12 September for 2 nights. A signed diversion will be in place via Portsmouth Road to Send, the A247 to Clandon, the A25 to Guildford, Farnham Road, A31 Hogs Back and B3000 Puttenham Road.

A27 Farlington, Hampshire: surveys

Work to survey the bridges at the A2030 Eastern Road junction takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the roundabout and approach roads overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 September for five nights.

A31 Sturminster Marshall, Dorset: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A31 near Sturminster Marshall as well as maintaining the signage and vegetation at the Dullar Lane crossroads starts this week. The A31 east and westbound carriageways will be closed between the Bere Regis roundabout and the Roundhouse Roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 11 September for six nights (Monday to Friday only).  A signed diversion will be in place via the A350 and A35.
